In Syria we didn't celebrate it because my dad says that it's Christian holiday. But I think that we can celebrate it because it's about Jesus and he is importat in islam, too. And I know that many muslims celebrate it...

Why could not. Here atheist people celebrate it but they dont believe in any god. It is more about the tradition here. But if you like you can also start to celebrate it and enjoy it. It is about being with family, having a nice tree making christmas dinner... Christmas are important mainly for those who have celebrate it when they were little, because they believed that little Jesus or Santa or someone like that is bringing them gifts and it was so magical. I am so sorry for your Brother :( hope you will not experience things like that ever again :/
